LAPSLEY
Southport-raised, London-based artist Holly ‘Låpsley’ Fletcher has revealed the video to her latest single “Hurt Me”. Directed by Cherise Payne and filmed just outside Låpsley’s Southport hometown, the video features a powerful one-take performance from the nineteen year old singer, songwriter and producer.
“Hurt Me” was originally premiered by Radio 1’s Annie Mac as her “Hottest Record” and has since received widespread critical acclaim. Complex stated that “Låpsley packs a powerful emotional punch with a hypnotic ability that marks her as one of the most promising new artists out there” while Clash said “Hurt Me is effortlessly stylish, it’s a seductive pop gem from an artist at the top of her game”. Meanwhile ‘The Fader described Hurt Me simply as “shiver-inducing”
Recorded over the summer at the XL Recordings studio in Ladbroke Grove, west London, ”Hurt’ Me” features alongside another new track “Burn” on Låpsley’s latest two track release. With a debut album scheduled for early 2016, “Hurt Me” further cements Låpsley’s position as a prodigious new talent, mixing constantly evolving, sparse electronic production with gorgeous, emotive songwriting.
Meanwhile, following debut north America shows and appearances at the likes of the Wilderness, Wildlife and Love Saves The Day festivals over the summer, Låpsley is delighted to announce further UK and US headline shows in October and November.
The new run of dates will include a London show at the Tufnell Park Dome on 4th November and New York dates at Rough Trade, Brooklyn (9th November) and The Mercury Lounge (10th November).
Tickets go on sale Wednesday 23rd September.
