Returning after last year’s sell-out, cosmic-funk masters Thumpasaurus bring the goods back to Notts on 24th July, marking their third LP ‘Hard’, so we got to know ’em!
Howdy Thumpasaurus! Set the scene for us, where are we reaching you today?

We loved your sold-out show in Nottingham last year! How excited are you to take this new record on the road?
Very excited, very thrilled, we love playing and honing new songs on the road.
The record was tracked live as a full band, how did that decision come about for this record and was the recording process more enjoyable in that setting?
We decided to do full band because we play so well together live that we knew we could get it done together in a studio.
Tell us about the songwriting within the band, are tunes typically started from a jam or are they individual ideas that are fleshed out?
Individual ideas, fleshed out, thrown aside, destroyed, chewed, put through a grinder, eaten whole, spit out, flob gasped, and ultimately finished.
We’ve heard a story about Ben’s stage pancakes last year. Give us some insights, shall we be getting the maple syrup ready?
Ben actually developed a huge phobia of pancakes after he threw one into the crowd and it smashed this young concert goer in the face. What was crazy is for the rest of the show she kept yelling at ben to keep smashing her in the face more. More. MORE. It really did a number on him.
Going full “Mr Worldwide” for this album. Where are you excited to tour in 2024?
Mostly Nottingham! You all have this restaurant near the venue that sells the biggest, gnarliest looking burgers. It’s like 4 huge stacks. It looks so daunting. Almost grotesque. Maybe this year we’ll eat them right before the set and see what happens.
