Their inception in summer 2019 following a jam session between friends and an unshakable catchy hook. Which would result in initial single and fan-favourite ‘Forever Young’. Afflecks Palace have always taken a truly DIY approach. Choosing to write, produce and release music through their own indie label; Spirit Of Spike Island. Also hiring venues nationwide to tour on their own terms. From creating their own music videos to organising screen-printed self-designed merch. Their unstoppable independent work ethic has given them full artistic control. Which has spawned an excited underground UK scene which continues to grow with label-mates. Such as Pastel, Vega Rally & Ava Carlyle all gaining huge interest throughout 2022.

The “Hello. Is Anyone Awake?” EP (January 2020) sold out on ltd-edition vinyl 1 week after release from word-of-mouth alone. They’ve since continued to release a steady stream of crowd-pleasers throughout the pandemic. Sophomore EP “Everything Is An Attempt To Be Human” (September 2020) sold out on preorder. It placed at no. 3 in the UK Vinyl Chart. Their maiden 8 date headline tour in September 2021 which followed also sold out. Each date a joyous post-lockdown singalong of old – and new – anthems. Culminating in a raucous capacity show at Gorilla, Manchester (600 cap).

AFFLECKS PALACE NEW ALBUM

The debut full-length; What Do You Mean Its Not Raining hit no.20 in the UK album chart. The new album ‘The Only Light In This Tunnel Is The Oncoming Train’ is here. Brimming with psyche-lead beats, glistening guitars and anthemic melodies. Carried by reflections, observations, candid humour and a deep vein of northern grit.

J. Fender (singer / producer) says: “For many bands and artists, it is hard to be creatively brave in the music industry in 2022. From the start, we wanted to put out music with no artistic compromises – we live and die by our sword. “The Only Light In This Tunnel Is The Oncoming Train” will be recognised as the best guitar album released in 2022… whether it receives that accolade now or in years to come.”

Lyrically compelling and effortlessly produced by J. Fender (with James Kenosha mixing / John Davis mastering), “The Only Light In This Tunnel Is The Oncoming Train” is an album destined for repeat play and enjoyment – the soundtrack to a new horizon of “I was there” moments.
