Meet ‘Em – Great Gable

We’re expecting a visit from the brilliant Australian indie-rock band Great Gable on Thursday 26th June. We thought it’d be a nice idea to meet ’em…

Hey Great Gable! You’re embarking on a massive EU/UK tour over the course of June and July, with a stop at our place along the way. Anywhere in particular you’re excited to revisit or anywhere you’ve never gigged before that you’re looking forward to visiting?

I love the crowds in the Netherlands and I’m looking forward to visiting Amsterdam again. We’ll be going to Italy for the first time as well. We might even get a tan!

You are touring your 3rd studio album, Small Fry, which was released at the back end of 2024. Congratulations on that! How has the reaction to that been? Are reactions from your crowds any different to how they were with previous albums?

Thank you! The reactions have been fantastic so far. The new tunes are upbeat and playing them live was our main focus when writing the album. I’m not too sure if the reaction has been any different to previous albums but I’m just happy to have people listening to our music. New or old.

Small Fry has been described as a “sun-drenched delight”. That paints a very warm picture. How do you want listeners to feel when listening to the album?

Well I suppose all I can worry about is how the album makes me feel. People will find their own meaning/feeling to a song or album and I love when people tell me about it. It’s usually never what I was expecting haha.

You have been compared to a few different bands from quite a few varying genres. This must mean you have quite a unique sound. Can you all agree on a favourite band or do you all have different influences that are all over the place?

We definitely can’t agree on a favourite band! It’s been interesting to see how our individual tastes have evolved and changed over the years. One of the guys likes synth pop type stuff, one likes Primus and I like The Beatles. Making sure we don’t rinse and repeat the same sound has always been important to us. There’s nothing more boring than a band that continues to write the same music as their first album.

Once you’ve finished your European tour, you’re hitting up Canada. What have you got after that? Are you treating fans to festival appearances over the summer? Any other plans you can tease for us?

I’m pretty sure we’ll be heading back to Perth WA to get started on recording album number 4. I love touring but writing and recording is always on my mind. It’s the funnest part of the job for me.

What’s your dream rider? Go wild. No budget!

Whatever Snoop Dogg has on his rider. I think he’d have some goodies.

Haha, no promises! Thanks for joining us, folks. Tickets for the show are on sale here.
