Hockley Hustle Preview – Downstairs

We’ve got a stacked lineup for this years Hockley Hustle, here’s the run down of everyone playing our downstairs bar!

Opening up the day downstairs is Nottingham based folk singer Willi P. A well known face on the open mic circuit around the city, his live performances have seen him be selected for some great local gigs including Wizards Can’t Be Lawyers Rough Trade headline earlier this month. Following on is Soul and Motown inspired Lorna Dea who brings a fresh contemporary twist to her influences. Having supported the likes of Paloma Faith, this will be a great chance to see her in a more intimate venue setting.

Taking the stage next is Peter Hall, with an impressive roster of singles under this belt this will be a captivating set. With his delicate blend of folk roots and introspective songwriting this is bound to be a special one. Up next is Summer Of Destiny, another duo that have done the rounds along the open mic circuit here in Notts, these two fuse stunning harmonies and songwriting to create a brilliant show, quickly turning solo songs into duets.

Lara Elise Grant is hitting the stage shortly after. Having had a great summer of playing shows up and down the country this singer-songwriter is well versed in live performance so make sure you’re here! Following from Lara is Leah Wilcox, who describes her music as ‘raw and overly romantic songs’. After a huge festival season, playing the likes of Truck Festival and YNot it’ll be a privilege to hear their music in the downstairs bar here at our place.

As we head into the evening we’ve got Charlie King taking over with his eclectic blend of indie-inspired acoustic songwriting that tackles social issues over complex soundscapes built up from loop based layering. Our penultimate artist is Dorothy Ella who brings an acoustic flair to funk and disco so make sure you’re moving! This isn’t her first stop at Bodega and it definitely won’t be the last so get down here for her set.

Finally our headliner for the evening is Jimmy Evans, an incredibly skilled musician who’s had headline spots at the likes of Rough Trade. His captivating performances bring a real liveliness to the crowd so we hope to see you there for the final act of the night!
