Ship ahoy! Finally something on the horizon you can hold dear.
If you’re lost in a murky sea, where songwriters parade Americana as the ‘new-folk’ –
CROWNS
are here to throw you a lifeline.
Growing up in Cornwall, it wasn’t all surfing and pasties for these boys. At the same time as songwriter Bill Jefferson was learning old Cornish tunes, the rest were playing in various punk bands in their local town. It was only when combining these two wild elements that Crowns found their rousing sound and began to write the salty, sing-a-long anthems that make up their set today. More intent on having a good time than singing you their latest diary entry, these folk-punk party starters want to get you dancing. Having recently shared stages with The Pogues, Gallows and Brandon Flowers, the fun has only just begun.
So – all aboard and raise a glass to your new favourite band!

Jay McAllister, better known by his stage name ‘Beans On Toast‘, is a British folk singer. He sings about sex, drugs and politics.

Beans On Toast began playing in 2005, rising from the London folk scene. He opened proceedings at Glastonbury Festival in 2007 and has played each year since. He supported Kate Nash at London’s Hammersmith Apollo in 2008. Last year he temporarily “morphed into a rap/hip-hop artist and after sacking his band on New Year’s Eve he formed a full on country band for 2010”.
He now tours with the seven-piece folk band Handshake who provide backing at all live shows, becoming the ‘Beans Experience’. Both recently performed and recorded as part of the Communion collaborations, featuring Lissie, Angus & Julia Stone and Mumford & Sons, due for release later in 2010. He also recently supported Frank Turner at his Wembley Arena show in April 2012.

Beans On Toast released his 50-track ‘Standing On A Chair’ in 2009, produced by Ben Lovett from Mumford & Sons. It features guest vocals by Emmy The Great, Frank Turner and members of The Holloways, amongst others.
