JOSH PYKE

Singer/songwriter Josh Pyke hails from Australia, where he came onto the indie scene in 2005 with the release of his debut, Recordings 2003-2005.
The album produced two hit radio tunes, “Middle of the Hill,” which was voted number 19 on the Triple J Hottest 100 list for 2005, and “Private Education,” which came in at number 57 on the same list a year later.

Having made waves on the important indie/underground fan-created list, Pyke was signed to Australian label Ivy League Records in 2005.

His first disc with the label was named Feeding the Wolves. An Australian Recording Industry Association nomination earned him opportunities to collaborate with important artists such as Wayne Connolly, Matt Lovell, and Chris Joannou. Two years of heavy touring later, Memories & Dust came out to a warm reception. His keen melodic sense and incisive lyrics earned him fans all over his native Australia and the U.K. alike. • Allmusic.com

PYLO

Who ever said rock n’ roll is dead? Pylo are the British guitar band set to bring balance to the airwaves with their brave, bright and beautiful amalgamation of everything that is great about real contemporary music.

Since forming in the spring of 2012, these five young friends from Bath have enjoyed a swift assent to prominence within the music industry, whilst commendably insisting on doing things their way. Intelligent and uncompromising, Pylo are born of a mutual desire to make compelling and original music that has fifty years of great British rock n’ roll in its DNA.

On the debut single ‘Enemies’, an effortlessly haunting delivery from lead singer Matt Aldus builds to a crescendo of epic proportion, complete with a symphony of reverberant electric guitars and potent gang vocals. Despite the sinister title, ‘Enemies’, written about not being ashamed to ask for help when you need it, has a positive morality. Matt affirms “sometimes the best way to get a handle on your problems is to face them with others”.

Despite their seasoned interest in music, these early twenty-somethings are far from just retro-revivalists, as lead-guitarist James Scott states “anyone who is exceptional in their field is an inspiration, whatever genre it is”. As is clear on ‘Enemies’, Pylo possess a far broader pallet of influences; from a legacy of rhythm and blues through to prog, right up to the recent post-rock and nu-folk booms. Pylo have a battered sea chest full of stadium filling, climactic and clever rock n’ roll fit for the iPod generation and the vinyl junky alike. Next stop….Hyde Park.

Catch Pylo live at a wealth of brilliant independent festivals this summer.

Pylo’s debut single ‘Enemies’ is out on 24th June 2013 through Naim Edge Records.
