They’re called PUP. They’re from Toronto. They play loud music. You’ll like it. Or maybe you won’t.

“It’s a tricky balance between aggression and pop, and they get it just right”   • STEREOGUM
“40 BEST NEW BANDS OF 2013”

“Catchy, anthemic, and raw as hell”  • BROOKLYNVEGAN

“Fiery tracks packed with scorching guitars and hooky melodies”  • EXCLAIM!

“Invigorating. Mixing genres to create a frenetic barrage of noise that suddenly veers into catchy moments of (early) Weezer-ish pop” • NME

“Great, grin-inducing punk songs…infectious guitar hooks” • Stereogum ‘Band To Watch’

Canadian noiseniks PUP are pleased to announce they have signed to prestigious Los Angeles punk stalwarts SideOneDummy Records for the upcoming release of their debut self-titled LP due for release in Spring 2014.

After bursting from the Toronto underground the band’s reach quickly spread to new territories, namely New York where the band recently enjoyed mountains of praise for their CMJ appearances. As their experience on the live circuit grew, so did their acclaim, with PUP being name-checked by influential US site Stereogum as one of their Best New Bands of 2013.

After laying waste to venues across North America with the likes of Fucked Up, Titus Andronicus and Billy Talent, the band have recorded their debut album with Dave Schiffman (The Bronx, The Mars Volta, Weezer, Biffy Clyro).

The record itself is a jubilant yet snarling opus that perfectly encapsulates the no-holds-barred, powerful punk aesthetic that PUP champion. Each track is laced with abrasive guitar lines, hard-hitting percussion and naturally, plenty of anthemic potential.

This uncompromising hook-laden punk sound has found the perfect home at SideOneDummy Records, home to the likes of Gaslight Anthem, Title Fight, Anti-Flag and Chris Shiflett.

PUP will soon be embarking on their first UK tour with Kent-natives Slaves, opening their account headlining an NME Awards showcase at The Miller, London on the 5th February. Don’t miss out on catching the band’s visceral live show at one of the following dates.
