Bristol’s much-loved art rockers The Blue Aeroplanes emerged in 1984 with their debut album Bop Art. They have gone on to release 10 albums to date including the critically-acclaimed Top 40 albums Swagger and Beatsongs, and gigged extensively, including a notable tour with REM. Previous members of the Aeroplanes have gone on to join bands such as Massive Attack, Suede and Primal Scream, and notable guests artists to have contributed to their creative output include such diverse talents as Andy Sheppard and Michael Stipe.

Following some successful dates in June and to coincide with the Cherry Red issue of Beatsongs Deluxe, the band are touring again in December. The New Year will see the release of a new album and a singles compilation. The December dates will concentrate on the bands catalogue of singles, many of which were Singles of The Week in the music press and Independent Chart successes (including the top 10 US dance chart!). There will also be new material and favourites from the bands extensive back catalogue.

The line-up will be Gerard Langley on vocals, John Langley on drums, Mike Youe on guitar, Bec Jevons on guitar, Gerard Starkie on guitar, Chris Sharp on bass and Wojtek Dmochowski on dancing.

plus guests: THE HUBRIS

From their Facebook…

Some people call us post punk, some call us indie whilst others have said we are art rock. Whatever we are, check us out and make your own mind up. That’s how we like it.

The Hubris came alive in 2008. Four friends heralding from a North Nottinghamshire town found themselves on the receiving end of a mutual musical attraction thanks to those wild, uncontrollable forces of nature and soon realised resistance was futile. Songs of social commentary and conscience, life/death and even affairs of the heart in an indie/rock/punk persuasion sprang from their collective creative loins for you, the people, to welcome into your hearts and dance the night away to. Our 21st Century and Mutant Monster Tea Party EPs are available to download from Itunes and Amazon NOW! “The Hubris – Nottingham post punk which sits somewhere between The Fall, Joy Division and more modern indie rock. Frontman Andy Storr is both charming and unique, whilst the band live are animated in all the right ways! Passionate music with witty, insightful lyrics and a quirkiness that makes them one of Nottingham’s finest” The Maze

We all have varied interests but they generally include going to the pub & have a few beers (except Heather who is rarely seen with an alcoholic beverage – designated driver!!).
