Steve Cradock formed Ocean Colour Scene with fellow band members Simon Fowler, Oscar Harrison, and Damon Minchella 21 years ago. After releasing “Moseley Shoals” and “Marchin Already” they were set in stone in the British music scene, selling millions of records worldwide. Thirteen albums later, they are still going as strong as ever. OCS are about to embark on a huge 2013 Tour to coincide with the release of their 10th studio album.

Steve has a reputation of being one of the hardest working musicians in the industry. Obviously OCS was his first band, but he since joined Paul Wellers band in 1992. Steve has played and made written contributions on many of Paul’s albums, such as Wild Wood, Stanley Road, Heavy Soul, Helliosentric, Illumination, Studio 150, As Is Now, 22 Dreams, Wake up The Nation and his latest work Sonik Kicks, as well as extensively touring the world with Paul over the years.

“Travel Wild -Travel Free” His 3rd solo album is due for release September 2013 Cradock’s side projects have included 2 solo albums Kundalini Target and Peace City West which he has also taken on the road with the Steve Cradock Band since 2008, supporting the likes of Amy Mcdonald, Beady Eye and Miles Kane. Many great musicians have joined him on stage during these gigs including Mani from the Stone Roses, Andy Crofts from the Moons/Weller Band, and James Buckley from the Inbetweeners.

plus special guests: GRAMOTONES

Songwriting comes first with Gramotones. There are well thought out lyrics with a clear influence of artists such as Squeeze and Elvis Costello. Beautiful and intricate vocal melodies are a staple in the Gramotone sound, with a nod to 60’s Manchester beat group The Hollies and The Beach Boys, the result is somewhere near that of an English carnation of The Band. Gramotones deliver a contemporary twist without ever approaching throwback or revival territory.

“Having met The Gramotones a few months ago, I realised that, even though we’re generations apart our musical tastes stem from the same era. And just like my band, Deaf School, Gramtones dig into the history and golden eras of UK pop. Obviously that has to lead to The Beatles, The Hollies etc. with a nod and a wink to Punk and the Brit Pop era. It’s great to hear a band sound young ,fresh and enthusiastic with a musical confidence and lyrical sensitivity that belies their years. I hope that one day soon we could share a stage and do some shows together. Anyway I’m very impressed with what I’ve heard so far and wish the band a great future.” • Clive Langer (deaf school, producer for elvis costello/morrisey/madness)

plus: FIELDS

Fields photo

”So with the Rescue Rooms busy and the atmosphere boisterous, Fields take to the stage. Before even a chord is plucked, I’m struck by how much the band look like bona fide rock stars.

Swaggering across the stage to pick up their instruments, they look like seasoned pros in the middle of a stadium tour. No nerves. No doubts. Just absolute confidence and laser focused ambition.

As for the music, Fields specialise in huge, anthemic beasts of songs. Think of The Charlatans at their most epic, The Libertines before heroin and crack robbed them of their vital spark, or The Jam at the height of their powers, and you have some idea of the Fields ‘sound’.

With thrilling duel vocal harmonies, tunes that take you to the moon and back, and an attitude that suggests they will succeed no matter what, Fields are pure class; and judging by new songs such as Blue and Spit It Out are only getting better and better.

A new addition to the exclusive club of Notts acts waiting to explode into the national consciousness.”  • Left Lion
