“One of the standout performances at Belladrum 2018, a real highlight of the festival” Belladrum Festival

In the Summer of 2016, four men in their twenties, all from different corners of the Highlands, crossed paths in the vibrant Glasgow music scene. Drawing from a myriad of influences, spanning from their native Gaelic culture to classic American song writers, they soon penned a host of original songs and some dynamic bagpipe sets. Within no time, the unique folk/pop sound of Tide Lines was born.

Growing a significant fan base entirely organically, with a clutch of digital singles followed by an album and an EP, they have since racked up well over 3 million track streams on Spotify, and almost 800,000 views on their YouTube videos.

Their debut album, Dreams We Never Lost, has sold over 10,000 copies and demand has grown further with the launch of their latest EP in October 2018. The EP, entitled Let’s Make Tonight, reached number 9 in the iTunes Official UK Album Download Charts on the day of its release and managed almost 200,000 Spotify streams in its first week alone.

New EP in hand, Tide Lines embarked on their first full scale UK headline tour – a 28 gig journey from as far North as the Isle of Lewis, to as far South as Hampshire; with gigs in London, Manchester, Liverpool, Birmingham, and Newcastle, and a sold out 1,200 capacity gig in SWG3 in Glasgow. Over the course of the tour, the band will have played to unprecedented audience numbers across the country with many shows selling out well in advance, and will finish off the year headlining a Hogmanay celebration in the 15,000 capacity Inverness Northern Meeting Park.

High ticket sales have come as a result of successful efforts to increase their loyal following during a summer of festivals, such as the Hebridean Celtic Festival and Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival who described the band as “one of the stand out performances… a real highlight of the festival”.

As well as British festivals, the band also enjoyed performances on mainland Europe in 2018 – including Denmark’s Tønder Festival. And their success has caught the attention of national radio – The Folk Show with Mark Radcliffe gave them their first airplay on BBC Radio 2 earlier in the year.

2019 will see Tide Lines set out to build upon this success with an even more extensive touring schedule throughout Britain and Europe – and the exciting prospect of a second album in the pipeline.
