FIELD STUDIES

“Atmospheric indie-pop in the vein of WU LYF”  • NME       “Quite magnificent, and it’s even better live”  • Silent Radio

“Sparse, gossamery soundscapes…combined with gorgeous harmonic singing”  • BBC, for Glastonbury Festival

“The hotly tipped Nottingham four-piece seem to continually expand, allowing their sound to reach epic realms”  • Clash Magazine

“Experimental yet ambient art rock with an incredible juxtaposition of gentle light tones and raw heavy rock edge; quite the feat.”  • Amazing Radio

Support from Radio 1’s Huw Stephens, BBC 6 Music’s Tom Robinson and John Kennedy of Radio X saw the art-rock band Field Studies make numerous national festival appearances last year, including a slot on the BBC Introducing Stage at Glastonbury and an acclaimed appearance at Y Not Festival (described by BBC Introducing’s Emma Clifford as “spellbinding and incredible to experience”).

In May 2016 the young 4-piece released their second EP ‘Rainmaking’ honing their atmospheric craft exploring more raw, bleak textures. The record was self-recorded, inspired by the organic, layered approaches to recording employed on records like Talk Talk’s Spirit of Eden and Wilco’s Yankee Hotel Foxtrot. Drowned in Sound, Line of Best Fit and BBC Introducing all speak of the band highly. Supporting the likes of Girl Band and playing to new audiences in Croatia and Slovenia the band are firing on all creative cylinders.

FIELD STUDIES

Field Studies are an alternative rock band who have been working on their own original material since 2012, having started earlier that year. Since then they have played numerous local gigs and are starting to make a name for themselves on the local music scene in Nottingham, playing their own brand of alt-rock influenced by post-rock and experimental music.
